Let's start with the weather. I've been wishing for snow and cold since it's a novelty for me, but the last 2 days have been more than anyone would ever bargain for. Saturday was nice...50 degrees or so. All the snow from last week's dumping had melted, or most of it, and it was a nice day for a walk. Then Sunday comes bringing with it a taste of Alaska. It was around 0 all day and 15 below at night...and yesterday was just as cold. It makes it hard with little kids since there's only so much you can do. Thomas was the worst to manage since he's so, so mobile and loves being outside. Today is much better...a balmy 32 degrees. Thomas got a taste of freedom out of the car and it was hard to lure him back inside. At least he wears pants...
Allison, in her Christmas dress (see the "pants" comment) was all excited for her class' Christmas party today. They got to watch a little movie and then got up in front of all the parents to sing a few carols they'd been practicing. Allison, however, was totally shy and spent the performance doubled over, her face concealed from everyone. She gets like that sometimes, especially in front of a bunch of adults, but I thought she'd dig the songs. Her teacher assured me she was really into singing when they were practicing but she just didn't feel like performing, I guess. She's been singing at home ever since, though. Funny how they do that!
We've also been doing a little holiday baking. Allison was into it, donning her apron and everything. It only lasted about 10 minutes but it was fun!

Shoveling snow is a great workout. I liked it until we had major nor'easter storms in Boston where we get 3 or 4 feet at a time and I had to be at work at 7AM. NOT FUN anymore.
i am a california girl through and through. even though snow is a novelty for me, too, i didn't enjoy it one bit as it was falling yesterday.
