We get milk delivered to our door every Monday. This is week 2 of this wonderful service, and let me tell you, it's awesome. I was having to go to the store to get more milk by Thursdays, which meant I'd always end up buying more things we needed and a simple trip to the store became an ordeal. There are several dairy farms around here that offer this service and the prices are pretty much comparable to the stores', plus it makes you feel like you're doing your part in keeping things local, saving on fuel costs, etc. They also offer cheeses, eggs, and lots of other dairy-related items, so it makes it easy to just get those things delivered and skip that section of the store.
We also get produce delivered. There are several of these companies, too, and we chose one that our friends use. You have many different choices in box sizes and contents (fruits only, veggies only, or a mix) and you just wait and see what you're going to get. This week we received 4 bananas, 2 peaches, 3 plums, one cantelope, 5 beets, 2 ears of corn, a bunch of broccoli, and green leaf lettuce. All of it is organic, local, and fresh...again, the same ideas apply that we're doing our part to save the planet. It's also pretty cheap, considering what all food is costing nowadays.
If these things had been around in Cal I definitely would've taken part...

so funny you mention that. Just last night we signed up for a produce delivery. It comes on Thursday. I can't wait. The mill would be so nice!
we have so many farms around here (they don't call NJ the garden state for nothing), and the taste of local produce is just so much better. Get ready to have your taste buds reawakened!
