Thomas and his tool toy- banging away!

Christmas morning with Grandma Joanie

We just wrapped up a fun visit with Grandma Joanie, Grandpa Jan, and Uncle Dave for Christmas. It was a great holiday...Allison was beside herself with excitement. Santa was very generous to all of us this year, especially to Allison and Thomas (of course). Allison received many princess and dancing-oriented gifts. Her transition to full-princess status is complete now that she has 2 princess dresses (thanks to Grandma Joanie and Grandpa Jan), two tutus and ballet shoes (thanks to Santa and Jack and Molly), and a princess wand (thanks again to Jack). She insisted on wearing her princess dress at all times except "not for naptime", as she made clear. Thomas was overwhelmed by all the excitement himself, as he chose to revert to early infant sleep patterns (as in, waking up several times a night), as well as biting mom when he should've been nursing. Oh well, things will get back to normal for him soon enough, then it's "baby boot camp" time again for sleep training. He got a Tonka truck to ride on, push (to help improve his cruising and walking, which he's doing a lot of), and his first set of "tools". He also got a lot of toys to bang on- a drum set, play bongos, and another tool toy. Allison also made strides in the "becoming a big girl" department: she's become very aware of her need to use the potty and has been actively using it several times a day all week. I guess there's light at the end of the tunnel with all the potty training woes we've had with her. (Here's hoping, anyway!) We hope you all had a great time over your holidays, too! Happy New Year!

Looks like you guys had fun. As for the potty training, I swear by the book Potty Training in Less than a Day. It works. At least it did for my kids. Good luck!

I've heard about that book...maybe I'll break down and try it. Allison has only recently begun to want to sit on the potty (even when we bribed with every candy/treat/sticker known to man) so maybe now's the time to get help from a book. I was ready to throw the towel in!
